Raised in Lutzville, a small Afrikaans town on the West Coast, Jean grew up in a community where music wasn’t background noise - it was how people stayed connected. From local braais and family dances to small-town festivals, he was surrounded by Afrikaans dance tracks, old-school classics, R&B, golden rock, and local hits — songs that didn’t just fill the air, they filled the space between people.
With a background in sound engineering(CAE Institute) and live event coordination, Jinx knows the behind-the-scenes work that makes a flawless night possible.

Every venue has its own acoustic fingerprint - a glass hall doesn’t carry bass like a wine cellar does.
DJ Jinx uses professional Pioneer, EV, and Shure equipment precisely because it gives him full control over clarity, warmth, and balance in any space.
Before every event, he checks the room’s dimensions, flooring, and ceiling height, and tunes his system accordingly - so speeches sound crisp, and the music feels full, not flat. -
It’s all about dynamic pacing.
Jinx keeps independent volume zones for ceremony, pre-drinks, and reception - using separate speaker systems and live EQ adjustments.
That means the vows stay intimate, the pre-drinks hum with background warmth, and the dancefloor hits exactly where it needs to - alive, not deafening. -
You shouldn’t have to manage it.
From the moment the timeline is set, Jinx syncs directly with your venue manager, photographer, and MC to ensure every transition - from speeches to first dance to bouquet toss - happens seamlessly.
You won’t hear, “Wait, are we ready?” through the mic. You’ll just feel everything flow. -
For most weddings, Jinx arrives 2–3 hours before guests - earlier if the venue has multiple sound zones.
Setup includes system calibration, mic testing, light angle adjustments, and a dry run of your key moments.
When the first guest arrives, everything’s already glowing, tuned, and ready - no cables being taped down, no sound checks mid-walk-in.
